Un article intéressant sur Edwin Wilson

http://www.economist.com/node/21563687

Edwin P. Wilson, gunrunner and manager of CIA front companies, died on September 10th, aged 84

Sep 29th 2012

(...) His connections with the Company had begun in 1955 on the plane home from fighting in Korea, when he was given a name and a number to call by a man who then disappeared. He worked actively for the CIA for 15 years, destabilising European labour unions by using anything—Corsican mobsters, plagues of cockroaches—and setting up his front companies. (...)

_ _ _

Inside the Shadow Government
Par le Christic Institute
(juin 1988)

Page 28 :

Wilson founded Consultants International... (131)

Note 131 :

Washington lobbyist Robert Keith Gray was listed as Consultants International's director. During the 1060s and 1970s, Gray was in charge of the public relations firm Hill and Knowlton's Washington office, and also served as a key adviser on Ronald Reagan's 1980 election campaign.

_ _ _

_ _ _

Page 34 :

In 1977, Wilson had suggested to Clines that Clines obtain the position of staff liaison between the CIA and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), "in other words between CIA and Secord". A new intelligence information path developed, whereby Secord informed Clines of which Soviet weaponry the DIA was concerned about in Libya ; Clines, in turn, informed Wislon and Wilson instructed his mercenaries to gather the requested information on the Soviet weapons systems.

(...)

Wilson continued working with Shackley until 1982, when he was arrested by U.S. marshals in theDominican Republic and sent to prison in the U.S.

_ _ _

http://spartacus-educational.com/JFKsecordR.htm

(...)  In August 1966, Secord transferred to Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand. Later that year Ted Shackley was placed in charge of CIA secret war in Laos. He appointed Thomas G. Clines as his deputy. He also took Carl E. Jenkins, David Sanchez Morales, Rafael Quintero, Felix I. Rodriguez and Edwin Wilson with him to Laos. Shackley worked closely with Richard Secord, who directed tactical bombing raids against the Pathet Lao.

According to Joel Bainerman it was at this point that Shackley and his "Secret Team" became involved in the drug trade. They did this via General Vang Pao, the leader of the anti-communist forces in Laos. Vang Pao was a major figure in the opium trade in Laos. To help him Shackley used his CIA officials and assets to sabotage the competitors.  (...)

http://www.infoguerre.fr/guerre-de-l-information/le-conseil-underground-291

Notamment :

Source : Time Magazine le 6 mai 1991, page 50

Cependant, le temps le plus précieux de Wilson pour la CIA était en Division des opérations spéciales (SOD) la mise en place des sociétés écrans comme Maritime Consulting Associates (1964) et Consultants International (1965), qui ont été utilisés pour expédier secrètement des fournitures dans le monde entier. Par exemple, les cargaisons comprenaient des bateaux démontés envoyés en Afrique centrale où ils ont été soudés ensemble sur les rives du lac Tanganyika et utilisés pour intercepter les armes soviétiques étant transportés sur le lac et les rebelles au Congo; armes à l'Angola; engins antiémeutes au Chili, au Brésil et au Venezuela;

http://www.grip.org/sites/grip.org/files/DOSSIERS_NOTES_ET_DOCUMENTS/ND-007.pdf

(...)  Whatever Wilson's intention concerning Rodriguez, Soghanalian learned that he was right about the big mouth. Soghanalian took Rodriguez to a training base for Belgian mercenaries. "He started talking, saying he was a CIA agent. You can't do that. He drinks and cries and says he wants his girlfriend."  (...)

The secret history of the CIA
Par Joseph J. Trento
Pages 344 et 345

In Laos, Ed Wilson worked with Shackley's deputy, David Morales (...)

The colorful Special Operations expert, General John K. Singlaub, chief of Military Assistance Command Vietnam Special Operations Group (MACV-SOG) in Vietnam, also worked with Shackley and his team in Cambodia and at the secret CIA air base at Udorn in Laos  (...)

In Vientiane (...) Shackley got to know a brilliant Air Force pilot, Richard Secord.

The relationships Shackley developed during his time in Laos eventually made him one of the most powerful men in the CIA, because he and his associates held a common secret : the CIA was in alliance with Laotian drug lords against the North Vietnaese and the Pathet Lao, Lao's own Communist guerilla army. One again, the CIA was in business with the mob.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/802582-are-us-forces-still-based-in-udon-thani/?page=5

(...)  The below is a little bit that I wrote on Tony Poe. I met Tony first time when I was working in Laos but living in Udorn on the weekends.

During and after the War in Vietnam and Laos, many military men and women were in Thailand. There were a total of 6 USA air force bases and one major navy installation in Thailand. The command headquarters was located in Bangkok. There was a large contingent of CIA and Special Forces stationed in Thailand and Laos. The CIA ran the war in Laos very successful until the State Department changed ambassadors in Vientiane and the military jealously decided that they should be running the war. There were approximately 50,000 USA military personnel in Thailand during the Vietnam War. This was a tremendous western exposure, which had a lasting effect. Many GI’s married Thai women and moved them back the USA. A good example of this was Tiger Woods father who married a Thai lady.

The exposure to this many American military personnel over a prolonged period of time had a serious impact on Thai society. This impact mainly, ladies of the night seeking fast money for their service. Udorn Thani Province was not only a big air base but later was the local headquarters of the CIA run by Bill Lear and Pat Landry. Their assistant was Jack Shirley. They moved the headquarters for the local operation from Vientiane for political reasons.

The Charoen Hotel in Udorn Thani Province in the northeast became one of the real hot spots for entertainment. Tony Poe one of their trained heavy handed CIA persons in Lao felt very comfortable around most of his CIA buddies in Bangkok. I knew all of these guys very well in a social framework. Later Tony Poe and Jack Shirley became archenemies as Tony felt that he did not get a fair shake from CIA Headquarters. I first met Tony in Udorn Thani in 1988 when I was working as consultant in Laos. He was a huge man and a trained killer. Tony told me once that he had a 10,000 man Hmong Army working for in northwest Lao. Tony had married, he claimed, a Lao Princess who was a charming lady. Tony told me that he had to give her father 100 buffalo in order to pay the sin sot or marriage fee.

A mon compte évidemment !

Theodore Shackley

As CIA station chief in Miami, central to the Bay of Pigs and Operation 40, Shackley was a key US deep politician. In the 1970s, in response to increased public scrutiny of the CIA's activities, he helped to 'offshore' a lot of deep state activities to more clandestine milieux such as Le Cercle and The Safari Club.

(...)  After leaving the CIA in 1979, Shackley formed his own company, TGS International, which appeared to be focused on obtaining access to places like Kuwait and Iran. TGS functioned as a broker for Boeing 747 aircraft, attempted to sell various goods to Iran, and did construction work in Kuwait. Several of TGS’ shareholders were Iranian exiles, including former SAVAK agent Novzar Razmara.

At the same time, Shackley took part in the Reagan campaign operation that resulted in the American hostages in Iran being held until Reagan was inaugurated in 1981. Following this, Shackley and some of his former CIA friends, Thomas Clines and Richard Secord, became involved in the Iran-Contra affair. (...)

(...)   Shackley was hoping to eventually replace Bush as director of the CIA. However, the election of Jimmy Carter was a severe blow to his chances. Carter appointed an outsider, Stansfield Turner, as head of the CIA. He immediately carried out an investigation of into CIA covert activities. Turner eventually found out about Shackley’s “Secret Team”. He was especially worried about the activities of Edwin Wilson and the Nugan Hand Bank. Shackley was called in to explain what was going on. His explanation was not satisfactory and it was made clear that his career at the CIA had come to an end (David Corn, Blond Ghost).

Shackley now left the CIA and joined other former mates in the arms trade. Thomas Clines, Raphael Quintero, and Ricardo Chavez (another former CIA operative) had established API Distributors. According to David Corn (Blond Ghost) Edwin Wilson provided Clines with "half a million dollars to get his business empire going". Shackley also freelanced with API but found it difficult taking orders from his former subordinate, Clines. Shackley also established his own company, Research Associates International, which specialized in providing intelligence to business (in other words he sold them classified information from CIA files). He also formed another company, TGS International.  (...)

Rafael Villaverde. a Cuban refugee. disappeared at sea after his speedboat exploded off the coast of Florida; Kevin Mulcahy. an electronics expert. was found dead in an isolated motel in the Shenandoah Valley-apparently a victim of exposure; and Waldo Dubberstein, an archaeologist and expert on the Middle East, died of a shotgun blast to his head-a presumed suicide.

All three had worked for the CIA and, in the mid 1970s. became involved in mysterious conspiracies plotted by a former CIA agent named Edwin P. Wilson. A series of investigations by various federal agencies, begun in 1976 led to Wilson's indictment in 1980 and disclosed the following pieces of a murderous puzzle.

(...)  Dubberstein, an ex-CIA man whose subsequent work for the Pentagon included compiling the daily military intelligence summary for the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff— a position that gave him access to the ultra secret Single Integrated Operational Plan (SIOP), the precise order of battle for nuclear war— was paid by Wilson to sell his country's secrets.

William A. Knowlton

Davis Knowlton Thailand Expat

I've been eating there for more than 30 years. The food is great when you want a change from Thai. I knew Khun Jack well, as well as Mom and her daughters. Also knew Jimmy the Belgian years ago before he moved to Pattaya. I know my picture is on the wall, as well as my wife's. Great ham hock and bean soup - with cornbread. Yum. Going to be one of my first stops when I get back in six more days

http://spartacus-educational.com/JFKsinglaub.htm

John K. Singlaub was recruited by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during the Second World War. He was parachuted into Nazi occupied France and helped to organize the French Resistance before the D-Day invasion. Later he was sent to China where he worked with Ray S. Cline, Richard Helms, E. Howard Hunt, Jake Esterline, Mitchell WerBell, Paul Helliwell, Jack Anderson, Robert Emmett Johnson and Lucien Conein. Others working in China at that time included Tommy Corcoran, Whiting Willauer and William Pawley.

Singlaub joined the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and he was sent to Manchuria during the Chinese Civil War. In 1951 he became Deputy Chief of the CIA station in South Korea. Later he moved to Laos where he worked closely with Ted Shackley.

In 1964 Singlaub became chief of Military Assistance Command Studies and Observation Group (MACV-SOG). This was an unconventional warfare task force that oversaw assassination and paramilitary operations throughout Southeast Asia.   (...)

Mitchell Werbell, the son of a former Czarist calvary officer, was born in Philadelphia in 1918. During the Second World War Werbell joined the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and saw action in Burma and China. According to Gaeton Fonzi, this enabled Werbell to join “the superspy fraternity” that included Allen W. Dulles, William Casey, Richard Helms and E. Howard Hunt. After the war, Werbell lived outside of Atlanta. He also worked as an arms dealer. Werbell ran a series of weapon manufacturing and marketing firms including Military Armament Corporation, Defense Services and Quantum Ordnance Bankers. Werbell distributed advanced weaponry to selective foreign groups.

Notes :

Camp Peary is known as "The Farm", a training facility run by the Central Intelligence Agency for the purpose of training CIA's clandestine officers, as well as officers of other organizations specializing in clandestine activities, such as the Defense Intelligence Agency. The existence of this facility is widely known but has never been formally acknowledged by the U.S. government. Access to Camp Peary is strictly controlled and all visitors to the installation on official business are escorted at all times.

Paladin Press came into existence in September 1970 when Peder Lund joined Robert K. Brown as a partner in a book-publishing venture previously known as Panther Publications. They changed the name to avoid misidentification with the then-active and highly publicized Black Panther movement. The word “paladin” comes from the knights who served in Charlemagne’s court in eighth-century France. It was with some irony that Brown and Lund named the company after knights dispatched by the king to redress wrongs in the land.
